Mary Jane (Malcolm) was born in Brisbane – the daughter of John Malcolm a Queensland Customs Officer – in 1853.

On the 16 December 1872 – in Gympie – Mary Jane married Francis Mallon, a miner, born Gorestown Co Tyrone 1840, who immigrated to Australia on the Clipper ship “Donald McKay” arriving 21/03/1861.

Their children:
1. Terence – always known as Ted – was born in Gympie 30 August 1874.
2. Francis Malcolm Mallon was born 14 April 1877 and died 07 March 1878
3. Mallon Mallon died 12 March 1878
4. Henry Mallon was born 16 February 1879

Francis, her husband, died in Muttaburra 14 April 1880 and was buried in Muttaburra cemetery 15 April 1880. Mary Jane applied for “letters of administration” over his estate in Ipswich 17 April 1880.

On 23 October 1880 Mary Jane remarried George Beattie Gallogly another Muttaburra business man who, when his business failed was employed as Book Keeper at “Bowen Downs”.
Together they had:
1. Georgina Elsie Malcolm born on 10th August 1891
2. Phyllis Eileen Theodore born on the 24th July 1893
3. George Edwin Malcolm born 29th January 1895, died 2 February 1895 and is buried at Bowen Downs
4. Annie Maria Edith Elvena

George died 12 December 1925 aged 79 and is buried in Aramac cemetery with a monument erected by Mary Jane. Mary Jane died in the general hospital Aramac 11 June 1928 aged 73.

The BRC have no record of her burial but we can reasonably assume she was interred with George in Aramac.

Terence (Ted) my grandfather went to North Qld from whence he enlisted in the AIF for service in The Great War. On his return from active duty he settled in Brisbane.

His brother, Henry, went to Rubyvale.

His half-sisters married – Mrs N Healy (Dajarra) Mrs T.W. Wall (Richmond) Mrs J. Knack (Halifax)
