Embarked Sydney on HMAT Wiltshire 7 Feb 1917 with 26 Infantry Battalion - 19 to 21 Reinf.
On the 21 October 1917 George faced a Court Martial for Desertion, found guilty and sentenced to 10 years. Then it was commuted to one of 2 years and then it was suspended and he was released on the 23 February 1918.
