Struck by lightning

The Western Champion and General Advertiser for the Central-Western Districts Saturday 27 November 1909
Information was received on Monday last by Sub. Inspector McGrath that a carrier named Sidney Meally had been struck dead by lightning near Muttaburra in the storm of the previous day. Mealley was endeavoring to get his team into Muttaburra before the storm broke and was within a mile and a half of the township when he walked back to drive up his horses. There it was the lightning struck him. His wife and three children were with him at the time. Mrs. Mealley went into Muttaburra and gave the alarm. Mealley had only been in the Central District for about twelve months, having come across from Cloncurry.
