Wilford worked for Somerset Transport in Muttaburra doing the Muttaburra-Hughenden mail run (from mid 50’s to Jan 1971), which left Muttaburra at 8.00am Thursday and returned Sunday 8.00am from Hughenden.

1. – Sunday morning outside 39 Disraeli St, Hughenden just before leaving on the mail run to Muttaburra 1968. Note the water bag & near his right arm a tin trunk containing the films for air cap movies for the next week.

2. – Load of empty fuel drums from Muttaburra mail run, probably a Friday morning 1968.

3. – With son Peter, tarping truck in a storm Saturday afternoon 1969. Writing on driver’s door “SOMERSET TRANSPORT CO PHONE 5 MUTTABURRA”. Just inside the front gate is the trailer of an old Go-Cart belonging to other son, David.

Wilford’s next job was for Queensland Rail as a Porter in Hughenden, Mackay then Charters Towers.
