A very sad burning accident happened here on Tuesday afternoon. A little girl named Bailey, daughter of Mr. Samuel Bailey, Broadwater, who had been stopping in town with Mrs. Watkins in order to attend school, was in front of the kitchen fire, when in some way her dress caught fire. The poor little child ran outside into the yard, and as the wind was blowing hard at the time she was frightfully scorched before the flames could be subdued. She was without delay removed to the hospital, but the shock to the system was so great that she died about five hours afterwards. Great sympathy is felt all round the district for her parents and grandparents, who are very old and respected residents here. The funeral was attended by over sixty of the children from the State school, with all of whom the deceased was a great favorite.
