Yesterday morning J. Collins, a well-known drover, left by the Muttaburra coach to go to Bimbah reserve, in order to muster his plant horses. On arrival, there Collins was taken very ill. Dr. Laura Weir happened to be going home to Muttaburra, and she attended to Collins. Dr. Michod also went out, but their efforts were unavailing and Collins succumbed. Death was due to heart disease.
Collins was 73 years of age. He is believed to be a native of New South Wale. He managed Brookwood for many years, but left there some years ago and resided in Sydney. He returned to this district and started droving. He leaves wife and two children in Sydney.
