Details

Edward was the son of John Cullen, a Government Device Register and Hannah Ruger. He was born in Geneva Switzerland but had been in Queensland about 27 years.
He was a labourer at Bowen Downs. Edward was buried in the Muttaburra Cemetery by J V Ryan.

At the Police Court on the 24th instant also before Mr. Grant, Edward Cullen was’ fined £10- or two-months’ imprisonment, for having sold liquor at Sardine Creek without a license to Acting-Sgt Duffy.

They were also requested to inquire why a patient named Cullen, who had been brought in from Bowen Downs Station, had been refused admission when first taken to the Hospital. The Wardsman acknowledged receipt of books from Mr. Kinsley and medicine bottles from Mr. S. Clemesha.

The Wardsman had been interviewed with regard to the complaint that a patient named Cullen was refused admission when first taken to the Hospital The wardsman denied having refused admission and stated that he asked Norton, who drove Cullen in from Bowen Downs, to drive him down to the doctor and back so that he would know, what medicine to give him. Cullen’s swag was left at the Hospital. Norton did not bring him back, as expected; but the man returned on foot about thirty minutes afterwards. The wardsman’s statement was verified by two patients. The report was received and the explanation of the wardsman was accepted as satisfactory.

The local Deputy Curator of Intestate Estates, Rockhampton forwarded cheques for £5 3s. 3d. and £3 10s. Sd. on account of burial expenses in re James McArdle and Edward Cullen, deceased.
