OBITUARY
The death occurred during the week of William Arthur Whitney (83), a very popular member of the community, affectionately known as “Banjo.”
Born at Gracemere, he came to the district 50 years ago, and for 20 years was a member of the late Tom Kerr’s shearing teams. He was deeply interested in music, and played several instruments in addition to the banjo. In his young days he was a good athlete specialising in running and boxing. He also composed several poems, some of which were published in newspapers. It is understood no near relatives survive him.
